DAY 1: (WEDNESDAY) CANCUN - UXMAL - MERIDA

Departure from Cancun to the archaeological site of Uxmal, whose name means "three times built". Mayan city, belonging to the Classic period (250-950 A.D.); it was the capital of the ancient Xiu Kingdom, which exercised a rigid control over the Mayan communities of the north, until it became the political and economic capital of the region. Among its constructions, of architectural style also known as Puuc, stand out the Quadrangle of the Nuns, the Ball Court, the Dovecote, the House of the Old Woman, the House of the Turtles, and the most outstanding for its unique elliptical structure and its 35 meters high, the Pyramid of the Soothsayer.

Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Uxmal is one of the most important archaeological sites of the Mayan culture, along with Chichen Itza and Tikal in Guatemala. At the end of the tour, we will head to Merida.

Founded on January 6, 1542, Merida was built over the ancient Mayan city known as T'Hó. Among its magnificent and elegant buildings are the Casa de Montejo, the Cathedral of San Ildefonso and the Government Palace, located around the famous Plaza Grande. During the panoramic tour of Paseo de Montejo, one of Mexico's most important avenues, we will be able to see the Twin Houses, the Canton Palace and the Monument to the Homeland.

Check-in at the hotel in Merida, and free time.

DAY 2: (THURSDAY) MERIDA - IZAMAL - CHICHEN ITZA - CANCUN

Departure from the hotel (checkout) to go to the impressive "Yellow City" of Izamal. In its beautiful Historic Center, the imposing San Antonio de Padua Convent stands out; with its 75 arches and 7,806.43 m2 of extension, it is the second largest closed atrium in the world. It was built between 1549-1561 by Franciscan missionaries on the remains of the Pop-Hol-Chac pyramid. In the center and its surroundings are the Plaza Zamná, also called Plaza del Mercado; the Municipal Palace and the pyramids Tu'Ul, Habuk, Itzamatúl and Kinich Kakmó; the surface of the latter is the largest in the Yucatan peninsula.

At the end of the tour, we will go to one of the main archaeological sites of the Mayan World, Chichen Itza, religious capital of the Itzaes, whose greatest peak occurred during the Early Postclassic period (950-1200 A.D.). Its name means "the mouth of the well of the water sorcerers". In 1988, the site was declared a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. The tour begins at the Castillo, or Temple of Kukulcan, world famous for the play of light and shadow that occurs on its main staircase during the spring and autumn equinoxes, and the winter and summer solstices. This imposing building, the most emblematic of the site, was recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
